Web Accessibility

This article will walk you through the various improvements that Vetstoria has implemented on the booking tool to support those who are facing disabilities and are having trouble navigating through the platform. This is to ensure an inclusive practice of ensuring there are no barriers that prevent interaction with, or access to our platform.

The booking tool now supports web accessibility when using the

  • Direct Booking Link
  • Booking Widget
  • Floating Action Button

Below are a few ways Vetstoria improved web accessibility

  • The colours and fonts support a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text

This is to make sure that the background and text above are clearly visible to the users.

  • A contrast ratio of at least 3:1 for graphics and user interface components (such as form input borders)

This is to make sure that the background  and the input fields and other interactable components are clearly visible to the user.

  • Alternative text has been defined for all images and icons that do not have context surrounding them

When images don't load due to network instability or web restrictions, images and icons are signified with some context

  • The New booking tool also supports narrators (Windows Narrator) to assist visually impaired persons

For those who are impaired, they have the ability to use narrator tools such as windows narrator to help guide and use our platform.

  • The tab key identifies each interactive element on the screen
  • The up  and down  arrow keys identified all labels and interactive elements on the screen
  • The left :arrow_left: and right :arrow_right: arrow keys identified all individual characters
  • Heading Levels defined for a structured UI layout

This is used to identify the difference between headings and subheadings

Note: You have the ability to override the contrast settings by changing the colours in the 'logos and colours' section in settings on Vetstoria. Changing this will affect the contrast levels in the booking tool, therefore please be mindful. It is also recommended that clinics use a contrast checker such as WebAIM: Contrast Checker

Vetstoria is also complaint with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 AA Level
